Quality Counts

The team at Baptist Health Care wants you to know that safe, high quality health care is our priority.

We measure performance to achieve nationally recommended goals for safe care, but we realize that the measurement of quality is much more than a number. We also want to ensure that our bedside interactions meet your expectations. Performance is about combining medical expertise and compassion.

Our faith-based Mission keeps us focused on relationships. As the only locally owned and governed health care system along the Gulf Coast, we have a vested interest in the well-being of our community—whether you’re in the hospital or not.

Our Mission is to improve quality of life and to make sure that every patient, every time, has a positive health care experience with us. We want happy healthy families living in our community.

What you need to know to be safe

At Baptist Health Care, we encourage you to make health care choices that provide you with the best possible outcomes toward meeting your wellness goals. We advocate that you make informed choices and ask questions that are in you and your family’s best interest toward receiving the care you need. The following are tips for you as a consumer of health care. We invite you to look for these characteristics when making health care choices.

  • Ask questions and expect honest answers. Safe, high quality health care should be transparent about the risks and benefits of care.
  • Expect health care workers to have maniacal hand hygiene practices. Feel free to ask your health care provider if he/she has washed his hands if you do not witness hand washing. The single most important prevention of the spread of disease is hand washing.
  • Complete a Living Will/Advanced Directives. Make decisions about your choices of end-of-life care before you enter a health care setting. Feel free to ask questions about the process of acquiring and honoring a Living Will upon entering a health care setting.
  • Review hospital or health care provider quality, safety, and satisfaction scores. These scores are available at www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare/search.html
