Patient welfare is Baptist Health Care’s No.1 priority and we are committed to delivering safe, quality health care, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
Charity care is defined as free care or discounted care given to patients who are unable to pay based on established financial assistance policies. Baptist follows the most recently published federal poverty guidelines when assessing a patient’s ability to pay.
Every year, Baptist Health Care provides an estimated total combined (charity care and Medicaid) community benefit in the tens of millions of dollars. In addition, Baptist Health Care social workers assist patients with medication, transportation and other discharge needs that range in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Baptist Health Care also provides additional tens of thousands of dollars for durable medical equipment and home health services.
