8th Annual Bras Across the Bridge Raises Nearly $26,000 for Baptist Health Care Foundation’s Mammogram Fund

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Oct. 12, 2017) – Baptist Health Care Foundation’s 8th annual Bras Across the Bridge, presented by Pensacola Honda and in partnership with Cumulus Media and The Grand Marlin Restaurant and Oyster Bar, raised nearly $26,000 for the Foundation’s mammogram fund.

The mammogram fund provides free mammograms to women in our community who are not financially able to receive one on their own, as well as awareness and support for early detection. To date, the program has provided free screenings to 1,899 women. As a result of these screenings, 364 women required additional testing, 47 required biopsies and 18 were diagnosed with breast cancer.

More than 300 new bras were donated by the Bras Across the Bridge participants. The bras will be donated to several Lakeview Center programs that provide assistance to women and girls in need, as well as Suit Yourself, a nonprofit organization of United Methodist Women at First Methodist Church in Pensacola, which furnishes free interview outfits to women in need in our community.
