Patient Immigration Status
Florida Senate Bill 1718 requires any hospital that accepts Medicaid to inquire about whether the patient is a United States Citizen, is lawfully present in the United States, or not lawfully present in the United States. As a Medicaid participating hospital, Baptist Health Care is required to ask every patient about their citizenship status during the registration process. Responses to this inquiry will not affect patient care or result in a report of immigration status to immigration authorities.
