Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect during my sleep study?

During your sleep study, you will have sensors placed on a variety of locations on your body. These sensors relay your brain’s messages to the sleep center’s monitoring system. Depending on the type of sleep study your doctor ordered, sensors may be placed in the following locations:

  • Scalp
  • Forehead
  • Temples
  • Near your eyes
  • Under your nose
  • Chin
  • Finger
  • Chest
  • Leg

During the recording process, your sleep patterns will be observed, and a sleep study technologist will assist you as needed during the entire recording process.

One of our board-certified sleep center physicians will review your study and provide a report to your physician. Some sleep disorders such as sleep apnea may require a second therapy-related study. Your treating physician will make this determination.

How can I schedule a sleep study?

Physicians may refer patients to the Gulf Breeze Hospital Sleep Disorders Center by calling 850.916.8203. To accommodate the busy lives of patients, and as demand permits, a sleep study room may be immediately available when the doctor places the referral to the center. If you are a patient and think you have symptoms of a sleep disorder, you should first talk with your primary care physician, and ask to be referred to the Gulf Breeze Hospital Sleep Disorders Center. If you have any questions about your sleep study, call 850.916.8203.
