Cardiology
Disorders of the heart lead to heart disease and cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of disease and death in America.
Our experienced cardiologists are committed to providing the highest quality of care to people who have disorders of the heart, arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels (cardiovascular diseases). With specialized training, our cardiologists diagnose and treat diseases or conditions of the cardiovascular system including congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure and valvular heart disease. You might also visit a cardiologist so you can learn about your risk factors for heart disease and find out what measures you can take for better heart health.
The primary responsibility of the heart is to pump blood through the entire body. It pumps blood from the body — called the systemic circulation — through the lungs — called the pulmonary circulation — and then back out to the body.

- Cardiac Catheterization
- A coronary catheterization — also called cardiac cath — is a common and minimally invasive procedure to access the coronary circulation and blood filled chambers of the heart using a catheter. The procedure is relatively painless and performed by placing a long, flexible catheter — a small tube that looks like a cooked spaghetti noodle — through a blood vessel and guiding it to the patient’s heart. It is performed for both diagnostic and interventional (treatment) purposes to give your doctor a view of the valves, the heart muscle and coronary arteries at work. If your doctor finds a problem during a catheterization, you may be treated right away.
- Cardiothoracic Services
- Our cardiac and thoracic surgeons have specialized training in diagnosing and surgically treating diseases of the heart, lung, chest, esophagus, diaphragm and blood vessels (cardiac and thoracic diseases). We offer a full spectrum of advanced cardiothoracic surgical services, including minimally invasive robotic assisted surgery, “off-pump bypass” heart procedures and minimally invasive heart valve procedures.
