Baptist Hospital and Gulf Breeze Hospital Receive New Quality-based Accreditation from DNV GL

12/10/2018

Baptist Hospital and Gulf Breeze Hospital have successfully completed its new accreditation process from DNV GL-Healthcare.

By earning accreditation, Baptist and Gulf Breeze hospitals have demonstrated that they meet or exceed patient safety standards, or Conditions of Participation, set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

ISO 9001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system. Organizations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. DNV GL’s accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare conditions of Participation. It involves annual hospital surveys and encourages hospitals to openly share information across departments and to discover improvements in clinical workflows and safety protocols.

“The DNV GL program is consistent with our long-term commitment to quality and patient safety,” said Scott Raynes, president of Baptist Hospital, Inc., and executive vice president of Baptist Health Care. “The ability to integrate ISO 9001 quality standards with our clinical and financial processes is an important part of our commitment to excellence and our vision to be the trusted partner for improving the quality of life in the communities we serve.”

DNV GL is a world-leading certification body that assures the performance of organizations, products, people, facilities and supply chains through certification, verification, assessment and training services. In health care, it improves quality and patient safety through hospital accreditation, managing infection risk, management system certification and training. It operates in more than 100 countries.
