Bob Murphy Returns to Baptist Health Care as Vice President of Quality, Safety and Experience

Bob Murphy, in coat and tie, is new BHC VP

Baptist Health Care has named Bob Murphy to the new position of vice president of quality, safety and experience. Murphy will have oversight of the division of clinical quality, safety and excellence, pastoral services, clinical education and organizational development.

Murphy’s new position is a return to BHC where he previously worked for 18 years. During that time, he served in several roles, beginning as a flight nurse and paramedic with Baptist LifeFlight and ending as administrator of Baptist Hospital and senior vice president of BHC. Murphy was a key leader in Baptist’s successful efforts to win the esteemed Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

During his 40 years in the health care field, Murphy served in executive roles for large regional and national health care organizations and as a senior leader and executive coach for the Studer Group. In that role he presented to leaders around the world on performance excellence, customer service, employee engagement and other related topics. He is a recognized expert in leadership, employee engagement and culture. Murphy holds several academic degrees, including Juris Doctor, Master of Divinity, Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Active in the community, Murphy has volunteered as a chaplain for Gulf Breeze Hospital for the past seven years and serves as an emergency services chaplain in Pensacola and in Santa Rosa County. He also volunteers in homeless ministries at Waterfront Rescue Mission and Takin’ it to the Streets.
