PAM Health and Baptist Health Care Announce Joint Venture to Open 40-Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Pensacola, Florida

PAM Health and Baptist Health Care have announced plans for a 40-bed physical medicine and rehabilitation hospital. The hospital will be located on the third and fourth floors of Catalyst HRE’s Henderson Health Center on the Baptist Hospital campus in Pensacola, Florida. The 40,000-square-foot rehabilitation hospital will be PAM Health’s ninth in the state. Construction is slated to begin in March/April 2025 with an anticipated opening in spring/summer 2026. The new hospital will create approximately 80 new jobs including medical professional and support staff positions.

PAM Health will fully lease and operate the new hospital. It will receive referrals from all hospitals in the region and will offer inpatient rehabilitation services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. These comprehensive, individualized treatments aim to enhance patient recovery and outcomes. The hospital will serve patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries, including traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, strokes and other neurological disorders, cardiac conditions, amputations, orthopedic and post-surgical conditions. PAM Health hospitals are also known nationally for their workers’ compensations programs, assisting injured employees regain their optimal potential.

What is PAM Health?

What is an inpatient rehabilitation hospital and how does it differ from what we currently offer?
We provide acute care to treat the medical needs of our patients. This may include diagnosis, treatment, surgery and recovery. A rehab hospital is for patients who require additional physical, occupational or speech therapy to regain strength and mobility following medical treatment in a hospital.

Will PAM Health replace any services we offer?
No. PAM Health provides post-acute inpatient rehabilitation care, a service that we do not provide.

The PAM Health services are for patients who require inpatient rehabilitation (physical, occupational and speech therapy) for debilitating illnesses and injuries, including traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, strokes and other neurological disorders, cardiac conditions, amputations, orthopedic and post-surgical conditions, respiratory failure, spine conditions, stroke, wound care and more.

What are the details about the facility?

Will Baptist provide staffing, IT, supply chain or other support?
No. PAM Health will oversee all business operations at the rehab hospital. Team members at the location will be employed and managed by PAM Health.

PAM Health would be an option for anyone requiring post-acute inpatient rehabilitation care.

Will PAM Health collaborate with Andrews Institute Rehabilitation?

  • The PAM Health team will provide all physical, occupational and speech therapy services at its rehabilitation hospital. For outpatient rehabilitation needs upon discharge from PAM Health, patients may receive a referral to Andrews Institute Rehabilitation for care at Andrews Institute; Baptist Medical Parks Navarre, Nine Mile and Pace; or the Henderson Health Center.
  • Andrews Institute Rehabilitation will continue to be the provider of all inpatient acute care physical, occupational and speech therapies at Baptist, Gulf Breeze and Jay hospitals.
