Planning Underway for Behavioral Health Unit at New Baptist Campus

Baptist Health Care announces that design and planning are underway for a behavioral health unit at its new campus project at Brent Lane and I-110. It will provide inpatient mental health treatment for children and adults in a patient-centered, nurturing environment that will enhance comfort and healing.

The new building will replace Baptist’s current inpatient behavioral medicine center that is located on West Moreno Street adjacent to the current Baptist Hospital. Completion of the behavioral health unit, which is a department of Baptist Hospital, is expected to align with that of the entire project in fall 2023. Baptist’s investment in this new behavioral health unit is estimated at $30 million and is part of the $636 million investment in the entire new campus project.  

With planning and design in the works, building specifics and details will be shared as soon as they are finalized.

The planning and design efforts coincide with Mental Health and Trauma Awareness Month, an awareness campaign that brings national attention to the importance and essential need for behavioral health care. Last year, Baptist provided care to more than 3,700 patients at the behavioral medicine center. More than 1,100 were children with a typical age range of 10 to 17 years, although services are provided for patients as young as age 5.
