Laura Bass Matches Her Commitment and Values To Baptist's Mission
Laura Bass, R.T.(R) (M) (CT), has worked at Baptist for over 34 years. She is a registered technologist in radiology, mammography and computed tomography. She currently works at Jay Hospital.
“I was a baby when I first began my career at Baptist,” Laura said. “I fell in love with Baptist Health Care as an x-ray student at Pensacola State College (Junior college at that time) and quickly decided it was where I wanted to work. I was hired at Jay Hospital while still in training. I’ve seen many changes since 1990, but I still believe we are the best health care system in the area. I have worked at many of the different Baptist facilities during my career here but reside in Jay.”
Laura has a firm belief in the culture and values at Baptist.
“I’m a firm believer in a sense of ownership, Laura said. “Jay is my hospital, and my commitment to fellow team members and the Baptist mission has lined up with my personal beliefs. For me, a Christian organization is a very nice environment to work in. Plus, my imaging team at Jay is awesome! They are truly a family to work with. I love being such an intricate part of Women’s Imaging. My patients are fabulous.”
Laura’s most recent rewarding project included helping with the renovating concepts and decorating Jay Hospital’s new DEXA room. She’s more than a mammography technologist. She also gives CT scans and x-rays while still working nights, weekends and holidays when needed.
Laura’s sense of commitment and ownership also extends beyond the walls of Baptist and Jay. She has participated in multiple mission trips and received support from the Baptist Foundation’s Helping Hands program. Baptist believes in supporting domestic and foreign ministry and mission trips around the community and around the globe to positively impact others for the greater good. Most recently, Laura traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico to help a team host a vision clinic where 1,000 patients were seen.
Laura is happily married to William, and together they have two grown and married children, and quite a few grandchildren. In her spare time, Laura is an avid reader and often rereads her favorite books repeatedly, such as “The Notebook.” She loves singing and reading scripture too. Some of her favorite quotes are from Winnie the Pooh, such as “I always get to where I am going by walking away from where I have been.”
Thank you, Laura, for sharing your experience, values and compassionate service with us at Baptist in the community as well as with others around the world.
This is The Baptist Way and what makes our culture unique.
