Melissa Crumpton Multi-Tasks and WOWs Others
Being patient-centered and performing multiple tasks in service at a time isn’t easy, but Melissa Crumpton, medical receptionist at Baptist Medical Group Primary Care – Gulf Breeze, makes it almost seamless.
“I enjoy my role checking in patients and routing people to services accordingly,” Melissa said. “It harnesses my ability to multitask well. Plus, I like the patient communication with different kinds of people.”
Melissa joined Baptist in December of 2023. She likes the culture and relates to it because of its legacy based on Christian values with customer service at the forefront. She enjoys helping every patient she encounters each day.
“I try to give each person peace of mind and make them feel welcomed,” Melissa said.
Melissa applies that philosophy to her role and every patient encounter. She says the Baptist Value of Ownership means being accountable, and the Value of Compassion is especially important because patients come in struggling with health issues and anxiety over visits, among various other things.
“We must have Excellence and Integrity, other Baptist Values, in all we do, too,” Melissa said. “And of course Service, and delivering it well, is the most important thing. I like the day-to-day consistency of our values at Baptist and the stability it provides for team members like me.”
She’s also a proud mom to twin 12-year-old daughters. Being a parent has taught her how to do “500 things at once while maintaining a good attitude,” which is sometimes required in her role at Baptist.
Melissa is a huge fan of football, and one of her favorite books is The Art of Happiness by the 14th Dalai Lama and Howard C. Cutler.
Recently Melissa was awarded a WOW Award for her excellent service. A fellow team member said, “Melissa always goes above and beyond for patients and her coworkers, and she can multi-task to the 100th degree—she is our octopus!”
